WHITE BAND DAY III
Two major events highlight WBDIII in the Netherlands. On the 10th of December in Amsterdam over a hundred opinion leaders discuss trade justice and the role of the WTO. The debate is a joint effort of both the Dutch GCAP platform and the Dutch Coalition for Trade Justice. The invitees are top officials of the Ministries of both Economic Affairs and Agriculture, members of the official Dutch Delegation to the WTO, journalists, representatives of NGOs and last but not least Dutch celebrities. The aim of the debate is to keep the issue of trade justice on the agenda of these opinion leaders and to generate media attention around it. During the night a Fair Dance Party takes place in Utrecht. The venue is decorated with a huge white banner and “fair movies, food and drinks will be served. Additional to these two main events several other small activities throughout the country take place. During two concerts of famous Dutch band Blöf on the 9th and 10th of December the members of the band will pay attention to the campaign and white bands will be sold during the concerts. Dozens of municipality buildings all over the country are decorated with white banners, as well as some churches and trade union buildings. In one provincial city the main fountain will be wrapped in white.
