Events in 2007

October 17: International Day for Poverty Eradication

On October 17th 2007, Luxemburg's white band coalition organized a Solidarity March against Poverty, followed by a performance of the Poverty Requiem. Both events were a success and gathered important media coverage. Five hundred people from all layers of society participated and made their voices heard against world poverty. The Poverty Requiem was performed by a choir composed of 120 people, made up of confirmed choir singers, amateurs and also people living themselves in conditions of social exclusion and poverty in Luxembourg. The Solidarity March and the Requiem were organized by a large coalition including the local organizations of Caritas, ATD Quart Monde, the Red Cross and Amnesty International, as well as "Femmes en détresse" (a women's organization) and "Stëmm vun der Strooss" (an organization
working with homeless people).
