WHITE BAND DAY III

Wake-Up to Poverty! on Saturday 10th. of December

11.11.11 together with the Belgium Social Forum organised a life fenceduel between industrial nations and developping nations at several spots in Brussels. Of course the industrial nations where far better armed for this kind of duel. All the spokepersons that attended the WTO-meeting the next week were present to comment to the media on our views towards Hong Kong. There are also photos of the event on the site of 11.11.11

NATIONAL 11.11.11 CAMPAIGN 11th November

Every Year on Armistice Day 11th November many thousands of voluntairs come out on the streets in Belgium to ask the general Public for solidarity with the Global South. This year, the MDG's are the predominant theme of the 11.11.11 campaign.

MASS LOBBY EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT 8th November

On the 8th of November, some 80 representatives from European ngo's and unions came to Brussels for a mass lobby. An first-time action that had one clear goal: remind European Parlementarians to account for their responsability towards the recent EU-offer to the WTO. This offer came out to be a very bad deal for developing nations.

2015 DE TIJD LOOPT ACTION WEEKEND 22nd October

During the weekend of 21st to the 23rd of October, the (Flemish-speaking) coalition 2015 DE TIJD LOOPT ("2015 Time is running out") came out on the streets with more than 20.000 volunteers. Some 80.000 white bands where spread throughout Flanders, the northern part of the country, Many thousands signed the petition where we ask the government to take action for the MDG's. WHITE BAND DAY II

Wake-Up to Poverty! on Saturday 10th. September

Belgium (Flemish-speaking): The Flemish coalition presented its campaign 2015 DE TIJD LOOPT to the press in the Federal Parliament on the 9th of September. The coalition also presented a tv-spot with Flemish celebrities that appeared on national television. For more info on the press conference, contact Koen Stuyck. Belgium (French-speaking): This second global day of global GCAP mobilisation will see the national coalition wrapping the Belgian Parliament in a human white band. Belgium (with Care International): This second day of global GCAP mobilisation will see the national coalition organise the wrapping of Manneke Pis in outfit inspired by white bands. There will also be a reception and press conference at the town hall to accompany M Pis and key decision makers from the Belgian and European levels will be invited.
