Events 2007

October 17: International Day For Poverty Eradication

On October 17 some 3800 people all around Armenia gathered in Yerevan to participate in a march and a public concert to Stand Up and Speak Out Against Poverty and inequality. The event was preceded by a news conference to announce the event, articles in the local press and participation of GCAP national coalition members in a few TV talk shows. The press conference took place at the UN country representative office in Yerevan. The event was video recorded and a documentary will be prepared and aired shortly.

The “Global Call to Action Against Poverty” National Coalition of Armenia, represented by 9 local NGOs + Oxfam GB, took the planned measures towards the White Band Day 2 in 6 provinces of the republic.

A series of events took place including a "Poverty as an evil to humanity" photo exhibition, with 2000 children taking part; rallies; an open-air performance to deaf beneficiaries; a coalition letter to the G8.
