Where are the Poor in the Philippines? Some Sectors Invisible in Official Poverty Map
Official poverty statistics in the Philippines is a shame because it fails to disclose the real state of poverty in the Philippines, even consigning some sectors into nonexistence, the Philippine coalition of the global anti-poverty alliance Global Call to Action against Poverty (GCAP) said.

Wake-Up to Poverty! on Saturday 10th. September - WHITE BAND DAY II.
Huge rock concert marks White Band Day 2 in the Philippines
Some 25,000 people from across the Philippines came together for a special rock concert on September 10. The battle of the bands concert, took on the GCAP Philippines slogan "No More Excuses" to help to add support for the campaign within the Philippines. The young crowd enjoyed the music but more importantly they also showed their solidarity for an end to poverty in the Philippines by wearing white bands throughout.
The concert was just one of the many planned events around White Band Day 2 in the Philippines. Early in the week saw the successful launch of "The People's Rating of the Government's Performance on the MDGs". This event was aired on several national TV channels, and had a great media response. Global Call to Action Against Poverty (GCAP)-Philippines gave the Arroyo administration failing marks in its efforts to achieve the MDGs, citing its poor performance in implementing poverty-reduction programmes.
More exiciting events are planned later in the week in Philippines... watch this space.
