Background

Campaign Update Groups in Indonesia have come together as part of GCAP to call for debt cancellation, shelter for all, education for all and real action to combat poverty.

The support of the MDGs network and the UN ambassador for MDGs in Asia-Pacific has been instrumental in getting the campaign going quickly, as has good working relations between all the varied groups. This was followed by the HIV/AIDSs jamboree in Bogoron on 14th-17th February.

Wake-Up to Poverty! on Saturday 10th. September - WHITE BAND DAY II.

Regarding WB2, there were several activities in Indonesia, as follows:

1) 8-9 Sept : Local Resistance Forum, attended by more than 200 participants (majority peasants) organized by Institute for Global Justice (IGJ) and Indonesian Peasant Organization Federation (FSPI) . This meeting focus on peoples skill-shared on their local resistance against globalization by using local products. Venue : YTKI Building - Jakarta

2) Sept 9 : Public Dialog with Indonesian government which responsible made Indonesian MDGs Report (Ministry of Planning Office) and Launching of CSO Shadow Report organized by Indonesian Peoples Forum (IPF). Dialog attended by rep. from NGOs, media, government, and international institutions. Venue : Studio Cafe - Jakarta

3) Sept 10 : Morning Talkshow on MDGs at local television and radio programme; organized by Indonesian Peoples Forum (IPF). Venue : TVRI and RRI Bali.

4) Sept 10: Peoples Concert and Blood Donation; organized by Indonesian CSO Forum on MDGs. Venue : GOR Pajajaran, Bogor.

5) Sept 10 : Peoples Rally on Poverty Alleviation, No Privatization on Public Services, etc., organized by INFID and Joint Committee on Poverty Alleviation. Venue : Hotel Indonesia Circle-Jakarta.

6) Sept 10 : Peoples Rally on Poverty Alleviation, No Privatization and Debt Cancelation (Meeting with Solo Mayor) organized by Solo College Student and Joint Committee.

7) Sept 10 : Press Conference on IPF Open Letter to the Indonesian President Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono regarding the Implementation of MDGs specially Goal 1& 7 and Criticize on Draft Outcome Document which more focus on Security than Development
