WHITE BAND DAY II - Wake-Up to Poverty! on Saturday 10th. September

The focus of the second key day of global GCAP mobilisation was a music event which attracted 2.000 people.

BACKGROUND

The first meeting to set up a coalition of Uruguayan social organisations for the Global Call to Action against Poverty was held on Thursday, June 2, 2005.

The meeting was called by the CNS (National Follow-up Commission – Women for Democracy, Equity and Citizenship), REPEM (Popular Education Network among Women) and ICAE (International Council for Adult Education).

The following organisations took part: Casa de la Mujer de la Unión, Iglesia Metodista, Mundo Afro, CLAEH, Social Watch/ITEM and Red Género y Familia.

Members of the campaign urban actions team as well as individuals in their own name also participated.
