White Band day II – 10th September 2005
5th. September: A conference on the NIGERIA/PARIS CLUB DEBT DEAL at Gurara Hall RockView Hotel, wuse 11, Abuja, Nigeria. This was a follow up to a similar conference held in Scotland in July in collaboration with ANEEJ.
6th Septemeber: A press conference and presentation of Nigeria MDGs Shadow reports and meeting with Nigeria delegates to the Millennium+5 sSummit. Fax GCAP letter to the President, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.
10th September: Poverty Hearings (Public gathering where people will give testimonies of the true face of poverty from different perspectives). To be held in the Six geoplotical Zones in Nigeria - Abuja, Kaduna, Jos, Gombe, Calabar, Enugu, Lagos. (People will be signing Anti - poverty post cards on the occassions to be sent to the National Assembly, Governors and members of the House of Asembly - to do more in their States/constituencies to end poverty.
13th September: A GCAP documentary on the "FACE OF POVERTY IN NIGERIA" to be aired on two national televisions at prime time.

BACKGROUND
The GCAP campaign in Nigeria has mapped out a lot of strategic plans to make the campaign issues in Nigeria on the lips of every Nigerian.
- There has been a mini launch of the campaign on the 25th of May 2005 - Africa Independence day. The event which was widely covered by the press relived Africa from Origin and analysed the state of Africa and how trade injustice, debt and less of foriegn aid has imparted on Africa.
- The major launch of the campaign in Nigeria comes up on the 16th of June 2005. The launch will draw together civil society activists, popular musicians, star actors and actresses, Government representatives, members of the diplomatic corps especially form the G8 countries.

FRIDAY JULY 1, WHITE BAND DAY
A coalition will converge at Abuja, march and distribute fliers/leaflets at the embassies of G8 countries throughout the city
- The campaign in Nigeria is presently mobilising 10 million signatories across the country to take to Scotland in furtherance of the campaign for debt cancellation.
