White Band Day 2 - Peru

On 7th September, campaigners from Peru met with the Director of the National Library and wrapped the building in a white band, to highlight the importance of education for development, and to call for more action on the second MDG – achieving universal primary education. 200 representatives from Peruvian civil society also came together for their first workshop planned around White Band Day 2. Attendees discussed the progress of the Peruvian government on the MDGs. The coalition focused on the growing divide between rich and poor in Peru, and the fact that more women feel the effects of far more in their Peru. The coalition are demanding more action on these national problems this year.
