White Band Day 2 - Netherlands

The Netherlands, Maak Het Waar campaign a ferris wheel to make the biggest white band in the country yet this year! The Ferris wheel’s banner called for people to: " Stop poverty now, send a text message to Prime Minister Balkenende". Representatives of ‘Maak Het Waar’ joined thousands of other Dutch citizens, sent text messages to Prime Minister Balkenende. Other members of the public where also able to show their support of the campaign, with 800 young people contributing paintings about the MDGs as a call for these goals to be met and exceeded to lift millions out of poverty. A ‘White Band’ Brass Band also played at the event, and young campaign supporter Daan, recited a poem he composed about the MDGs to the audience gathered.
