White Band Day 2 - Greece

The Greek coalition has formally launched on White Band Day 2, with a series of successful events calling for world leaders to “wake up” to poverty. Early in the morning of September 10th campaigners took to the streets outside the Prime Minister's office with 50 large alarm clocks ringing together to “wake up” their leader. The Greek coalition followed this successful campaigning activity with lobby work, and presented a clear statement of the Greek coalition's demands for the UN Summit to the Greek Government. Meanwhile in the main Athens Square and at theatres around Athens, campaign supporters gave out information about the campaign, and more than 3,000 people left wearing a new white band to show their support for ending poverty. Citizens were also able to write their thoughts and their personal demands of world leaders in a Display Book of Signatures; thousands added their voice to this Book.
