The World Record attempt is the culmination of a global month of action, and will include events from Malawi to Canada, from Georgia to Bangladesh.
At the Kelvingrove event, television presenter Kaye Adams, and stars of River City will join Glasgow Lord Provost, Liz Cameron and leading anti-poverty campaigner Kumi Naidoo to make their personal pledges to ‘Stand Up Against Poverty’ and be counted as part of Scotland’s contribution to the World Record attempt.
The event has been organised by the Global Call to Action Against Poverty Scotland, a new coaltion formed by groups who led the Make Poverty History campaign in 2005. . Campaigners want to ensure that world leaders keep poverty on the agenda, and continue to deliver on debt and aid promises made in 2005, deliver trade justice, and take action on HIV and Aids.
