Rakhi is a Hindu festival which many non-Hindus join in with too. It celebrates the love between sisters and brothers, and on Rakhi day women and girls tie colourful bracelets round the wrists of their brothers, male cousins or close male friends. In London, the bands have been specially designed for the occasion which feature the words "Make Poverty History" in English and beside that a Hindi inscription of "sisters and brothers unite".
