  • Whiteband.org project 2008/10
    In 2007, the GCAP global secretariat relaunched the whiteband.org global portal for GCAP and its constituencies and strived to strengthen the GCAP online network, which is composed as of today of 75 global, regional and national sites and pages. The e-communications task force managed in July an external review of the website whiteband.org governance and management, with the support of an external consultant, Duane Raymond, from the UK-based company Fair Say. Priorities indicated by Fair Say in 2007 were addressed by taking the following actions:
    1.    Migrate the site to a clean, standard 2.5 Plone platform, as the website was still on a corrupted platform inherited from 2005;
    2.    Improve the front page and the overall navigation
    3.    Install the e-campaigning tool and create the “electronic whiteband action” for Oct 17
    4.    Install the Blog
    5.    Develop RSS and content sharing between the 75 GCAP sites
    6.    Update the content in all languages, and add the Portuguese
    7.    Provide access to the regional and national GCAP e-communications officers who asked for it
    8.    Update the list of GCAP e-communications officers through various and personal interactions.

    Building on 2005/2007 lessons learned, the plan 2008/10 is based on the following priorities:
    • GCAP online community development
    • Capacity building
    • Public e-campaigning
    • Monitoring and integrated stats of GCAP sites
