What is the White Band?
The white band is a single powerful symbol to demonstrate the truly worldwide nature of the Global Call to Action against Poverty.
What should the white band look like?
This is entirely up to you. Some suggestions are wristbands, armbands, headbands, and lapel bands. This action was chosen because it is simple for anyone to get involved - you can just make your own white band with a piece of white fabric. You can even use large fabric to wrap a building or monument or display the white band in your town, village or city.
Look at some of the examples of how people use the white band.
Who should wear the white band?
ANYONE who believes in ending poverty should wear the white band, and we want as many people as possible to feel part of this movement. This could be school children, campaigners, community groups, celebrities, families; whoever you are, this action is for you.
Do our white bands have to bear a slogan or a message?
Many groups will be organising under a national slogan, but whitebands may also be used without one. The best place to find out if your country has a slogan is on your country campaign page.
Where can I get a white band?
Many national websites offer the possibility to buy ready-made white bands online, or information on how to get one. Otherwise the white band can be a piece of cloth, paper or ribbon of any material, worn as a wrist, arm or head band. Wearing this, anyone across the world can show their solidarity with this campaign against poverty.
