2007/02/20 14:25:00 GMT+0530
On March 8th, the Women's International Network of the World Association of Community Radio Broadcasters (AMARC-WIN) will celebrate Women's International Day with a 24-hour live broadcast dedicated to women and gender issues through the Internet at http://march8.amarc.org. The broadcast will begin at 1:00 am GMT on March 8.
The theme this year focuses on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security. 2007 marks the seven-year anniversary of this important document that enforces a larger role for women within the framework of conflict resolution and reconstruction in war zones.
The resolution and its ramifications will be addressed in documentaries, interviews, debates, poetry and music produced by community radio producers from the four corners of the world.
Other programs that focus on a variety of other themes such as: How art can help a broken city, domestic violence and interviews with an AIDS victim/survivor will also be broadcasted.
The Third Annual Women's International Day campaign programs will be broadcasted in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Filipino and other languages. Individual files are available for download.
Please visit the website (http://march8.amarc.org/) to find out more, download programs and to listen to the broadcast on March 8.
