G8 Japan July 2008

New
G8 Working Group - Postcard Action Lobbying Kit - Until 11 January 2007
The G8 group has put
together a New Year’s card action – a tradition in Japan
where the
G8 will meet in 2008. The toolkit below is designed
to
facilitate lobbying by GCAP national coalitions to their Japanese
ambassadors
in their own country. It includes a sample
lobbying
letter and media release, and the New Year postcard.
We would like to invite all national coalitions wishing to participate to present the card to Japanese ambassador in their country in the early part of January 2008 (by 11th January) – full details can be found on the attached toolkit.
GCAP sees this year’s G8 as an opportunity to again lobby the G8 governments to deliver and exceed their 2005 Gleneagles Commitments. Recent years have seen G8 leaders make significant commitments to act on some of the biggest problems facing developing countries and the G8 Working Group aims to make them honour those commitments. This kit contains background to the Japanese G8 and guidance for lobbying, a sample draft letter and media release.
